This genuine honey is produced by bees within the wonderful National Parks of the Belluno and Ampezzo Dolomites. The protected development of the flora typical of this Alpine environment and the isolation characteristic of mountain areas make the area very suitable for the production of excellent quality honey.
This honey in particular is produced by bees that live between 1800 and 2200 metres above sea level and can stock up on various high-altitude botanical species, including the rare rhododendron.
Production area: Colle Santa Lucia (BL) Dolomiti
Conservation: It is preferable not to leave the product in direct sunlight and at temperatures above 25°.
The strictly natural products are harvested with artisanal care in beautiful surroundings that are distinguished by their care for the environment and especially for pollinating insects.
The word honey derives from the Hittite ‘melit’ to signify the very ancient knowledge of this sugary foodstuff. There are many documents attesting to its widespread use in ancient Egypt, or among the Sumerians and Babylonians. It was used for food, medicine, cosmetics, preservation but also for religious purposes, as the Greeks called it the food of the gods and used it for votive offerings. It is still a highly valued food today for its many properties and as a natural product. It can change its appearance over time due to a process of crystallisation that depends mainly on its natural over-saturated sugar solution or external factors such as storage temperature and the variety of the harvested flower.
